The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has promised to prioritise the welfare and professional growth of artisans and skilled workers if elected governor of the state.

AMBO made the promise during a visit to the Association of Electrical Installation Practitioners of Nigeria (AEIPON), Osun State chapter, where he was represented by a former House of Assembly aspirant under the APC, Alhaji Abdulateef Olalekan, popularly known as Asiri Ede.

Speaking on behalf of the APC governorship candidate, Olalekan said artisans and technical professionals remain critical stakeholders in the development of the state’s economy and deserve stronger government support.

He assured members of the association that an AMBO-led administration would create policies and programmes aimed at empowering artisans, improving vocational practices and creating enabling environments for businesses to thrive.

According to him, the APC candidate recognises the importance of skilled workers in infrastructural and economic development and is committed to building an inclusive government that carries all sectors along.

“AMBO believes artisans should not be neglected because they contribute greatly to the growth of the economy. His administration will prioritise policies that will improve the welfare of artisans and create opportunities for their businesses to grow,” Olalekan said.

He also urged members of the association to support the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, expressing confidence that AMBO would provide purposeful leadership for Osun State.

The delegation was received by the National President of AEIPON, Comrade Gbolagade Oyekanmi, the Osun State Chairman of the association, Abdulfatai Uthman Arikewuyo, alongside executive members of the association, including Alhaji Yunisa Adedeji and Adeoye Peter Abiodun.

Speaking during the meeting, Oyekanmi appreciated the visit and commended the APC governorship candidate for identifying with artisans and professional groups in the state.

He noted that electrical practitioners play vital roles in infrastructural development and economic activities, stressing the need for government at all levels to continue supporting technical professionals.

“We appreciate this visit and the recognition given to artisans. We believe stronger collaboration between government and professional bodies will help improve the sector and create more opportunities for our members,” he said.

Also speaking, the Osun State Chairman of AEIPON, Abdulfatai Uthman Arikewuyo, called for policies that would support vocational and technical development in the state.

According to him, artisans require more government attention through training opportunities, empowerment programmes and improved working conditions.

Alhaji Yunisa Adedeji and Adeoye Peter Abiodun, who are executive members of the association, also appealed for sustained engagement between political leaders and artisan groups, noting that such interactions would help address challenges facing practitioners in the sector.

The meeting also featured discussions on challenges confronting electrical practitioners and possible areas of partnership between the association and government to improve the sector.
