Osun ALGON Commends Oyetola, AMBO, Urges APC Members to Remain United

By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, has commended the former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, for his leadership and contributions to the unity, peace and development of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The association also praised the APC governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, for what it described as his maturity, resilience and commitment to democratic principles throughout the electoral process.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of Osun ALGON and Executive Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, and made available to journalists in Osogbo.

Abiodun described Oyetola as a leader who had demonstrated consistency, dedication and commitment to the growth of the party, noting that his leadership had helped foster unity and stability among APC members across the state.

He described the former governor as “a leader with a difference” and an “indispensable leader,” while acknowledging what he called his “remarkable and immeasurable contributions” to the growth and development of the APC in Osun and beyond.

“I must commend our overall leader in the state, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, for his outstanding leadership quality and impactful guidance,” Abiodun said.

He equally commended Oyebamiji for his conduct before, during and after the governorship election, describing him as a politician who displayed “rare political prowess, courage, resilience and maturity” throughout the electoral process.

The ALGON chairman also expressed appreciation to APC leaders, stakeholders, party officials, members and supporters across the state, particularly those in Ifedayo Local Government, for their sacrifices, dedication and support during the election.

Abiodun acknowledged that the outcome of the election might not have met the expectations of APC members, but urged party supporters to remain committed to democratic values and respect any decision taken by the party’s leadership.

“While the outcome of the election may not have been what we expected, it is sacrosanct to remain committed to the democratic process and party principles as we remain resolute and align with whatever decision may be taken by our leaders in respect of the outcome of the election,” he stated.

He called on APC members and supporters across Osun to remain calm, united and hopeful, stressing that political contests should not be allowed to undermine peace and peaceful coexistence in the state.

“Elections are temporary contests, but Osun State is our permanent heritage, and its peace and development must remain our collective priority,” Abiodun said.

He urged party members not to allow the outcome of the election to create division within the APC or among residents of the state, describing the period as an opportunity for reflection, reconciliation and renewed commitment.

“Our party remains a strong political family, and this is a time for reflection, reconciliation and renewed commitment,” he added.

The ALGON chairman further reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, development and wellbeing of residents of Ifedayo Local Government, promising to continue supporting initiatives aimed at promoting unity, grassroots development and opportunities for youths and other residents.
