Osun 2026: Religious Unity Takes Centre Stage At AMBO Praise Rally

As Supporters Invoke Divine Intervention Ahead of Osun Election

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, on Tuesday held a praise and prayer rally in Osogbo, calling for divine intervention and a peaceful conduct of the poll.

The rally, tagged “Osogbo City Praise Rally,” attracted Christian and Muslim supporters who converged at the Stadium Roundabout before embarking on a procession through Testing Ground, Oke-Baale Roundabout, Ilesha Garage and Isale-Osun, before returning to the starting point.

The organisers said the event was primarily aimed at praising God and seeking prayers for peace, stability and a credible electoral process before, during and after Saturday’s governorship election.

Speaking during the programme, one of the co-coordinators, Taiwo Adegoyega, said the participants were seeking divine intervention to prevent violence and ensure a peaceful election.

“We are praising God to make sure the election that is about to be on the 15th of August is peaceful. By His grace, we believe that God has come down today, and it’s going to be peaceful,” Adegoyega said.

He said the rally was also intended to showcase what he described as the broad religious appeal of Oyebamiji’s candidacy, stressing that the APC candidate, being a Muslim, would not discriminate against people of other faiths if elected.

Adegoyega described Oyebamiji as an intelligent and calm politician, expressing confidence that his emergence would bring what he described as a different approach to governance in Osun State.

Another co-coordinator, Kehinde Adeboyega, said the organisers were driven by their desire for inclusive and responsible governance, while calling for a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

“We want God to deliver us from uninclusive governance and from unserious governance. We are praising God to bring His hand down so that we can have peace with the election without any hanky-panky,” he said.

Adeboyega said the rally was organised in support of Oyebamiji and his running mate, Kayode Adereti, expressing the belief that their victory would be in the interest of Osun residents.

He also claimed that support for Oyebamiji extended beyond the APC, citing the reported endorsement of the candidate by former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He, however, stressed that the rally was not solely a political mobilisation exercise but also a call for peace and stability ahead of the election.

The participants later returned to the Stadium Roundabout, where prayers and praise continued as political parties and their supporters intensified their final mobilisation activities across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
