Osun 2026: Civil Servants Remain Crucial To APC Victory, APC Scribe
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru, has distanced the party from individuals making disparaging remarks against civil servants in Osun State, insisting that such comments do not reflect the party’s position.
Bashiru, who spoke during a meeting with former Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) officials at his Osogbo residence on Saturday, described civil servants as key stakeholders in Osun’s political and socio-economic development and crucial to the APC’s bid to win the August 15 governorship election.
According to him, the party would never endorse statements capable of undermining or insulting workers in the state.
He said, “Those who go on radio to challenge workers over their numerical strength in Osun are not speaking for the APC. The party did not send them, and they do not represent our position in any way. Civil servants are enlightened people. They are respected in their communities, and people listen to them because they understand governance and leadership.
“I have enormous respect for them, and nobody has the authority to insult them in the name of our party.”
The APC scribe appealed to workers in the state not to direct their grievances against the APC over comments made by individuals acting on their own.
Bashiru also cautioned APC members and candidates against complacency ahead of the governorship election, maintaining that electoral success would require diligence, unity, and reconciliation among party members.
He called on all APC stakeholders to prioritise the victory of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and advised National and State Assembly candidates not to focus solely on their personal ambitions but on the August 15 governorship poll.
