Easter: Osun Speaker, Owoeye Preaches Love, Peace And Unity Of Nigeria
The Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye has urged Christian faithful and Nigerian to use the occasion of the celebration of Easter to strive to maintain love, peace and unity of the country as elections approaches.
This is even as the Speaker charged Nigerians not to take with kid gloves the issue of domestic violence and baterry that is on the increase in the country.
Owoeye in a statement to commemorate Easter by his Media Aide, Mr. Kunle Alabi held that there shouldn’t be any sacrifice too big for the peace, development and unity of Nigeria as shown by the love of Christ Jesus to the world
The Speaker added that all hand must be on deck to ensure that Nigeria is not brought down to her kneels with insecurity permeating most parts of the country.
He stated that Nigeria will be great again if all and sundry is committed to peace and national unity, stressing that it is only in a country where security is guaranteed that greatness can be achieved.
The statement maintained that in the spirit of the symbolic resurrection of Christ, Nigerians need to come together to support government to contain issues of domestic violence, banditry and terrorism by discreetly reporting suspects with doubtful characters to law enforcement agencies.
Quoting from 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, the Speaker said, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
The statement quoted in part, “We should let the significance of Easter reflect in our relationship with one another. There is no price too much for a true Nigerian to pay for the peace of the land, we must love one another irrespective of our tribe as exemplified by Christ.
“We must not put everything at the doors of our leaders, we as citizens must strive for a better, peaceful country that we can all call our own
“If we love one another, elections will not be seen as a do-or-die affair but a process that must bring change and developments to our communities.
“The peace and unity of the country is not negotiable as we inch into elections, we must all be disposed to actions that will bring about free and fair election, going forward, we will all have good leadership of our desire”.
