Court Discharges Suspects Arrested With INEC Kits During Gov Election In Osun
A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state, Wednesday discharged 16 suspects arrested with fake INEC kits during the governorship election in Osun state.
The accused were arrested by security agents in Orolu local government area of the state.
The accused are: Lawal Adebayo, Moshood Adejare, Raimi Taofeeq, Oyelayo Dayo, Olaoye Asimi, Gbenga Olapade, Charles Amibiogoiu, Ayomide Ayansola, and Daramola Segun.
Others are, Kayode Dada, Tunji Akinroyinmi, Kunle Adedeji, Habeeb Bahiru, Yisa Sodiq, Adeolu Bamijoko, Oladipo Samson and Adeolu Bamidele.
Delivering the judgement, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, said the prosecution failed to prove the case of conspiracy against the accused.
The court held that the admittance of the witness that the driver of the vehicle was not investigated among others showed that the witness gave an hearsay evidence before the court.
The Magistrate held that it was clear from the evidence that the accused did not cause any commotion, they were not caught at the election venue and the witness admitted that he was not at the scene of arrest.
