Oyebamiji Tasks Osun Residents On PVC Collection Ahead Of 2027 Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the last Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has urged residents of the state who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so without further delay.
Oyebamiji said the PVC remained a vital instrument for citizens to exercise their democratic rights and elect leaders of their choice in the forthcoming general elections.
The appeal followed the resumption of PVC distribution by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across designated ward-level centres in the state.
In a statement personally signed by him and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday, Oyebamiji encouraged eligible voters to visit the designated centres to collect their cards.
He described the PVC as an important tool for democratic participation, stressing that citizens must take advantage of the opportunity to determine the country’s political leadership and influence the direction of governance.
“The time has come again for us to turn out in large numbers to collect our Permanent Voter Cards as we approach the next general elections. INEC has resumed the distribution exercise, and it is our responsibility as citizens to obtain our PVCs and exercise our voting rights,” he said.
The APC chieftain expressed concern over the number of uncollected PVCs reportedly still in the custody of the electoral commission in Osun State, urging eligible voters to take the necessary steps to obtain theirs.
“For those who are yet to collect their PVCs, I implore them to do so without further delay. Those who have already collected their cards should keep them safe ahead of the elections,” Oyebamiji stated.
He maintained that the PVC gave eligible voters the opportunity to participate in the electoral process and choose leaders with the capacity, integrity and commitment to deliver good governance and sustainable development.
Oyebamiji also cautioned residents against selling their PVCs or allowing themselves to be discouraged from participating in the electoral process, noting that credible elections required the active involvement of citizens.
“I want to encourage everyone not to sell their PVCs, as the card remains an essential instrument for participating in elections and determining the future of our country,” he added.
The former governorship candidate further called on Osun residents to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, urging them to demonstrate their political preference through the ballot in the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that voter participation was crucial to strengthening democracy and ensuring that citizens had a say in decisions affecting their lives, communities and the nation at large.
