Hashim’s Presidential Bid Resonates in Southwest Social Media Conversations
2027: Hashim’s Presidential Ambition Sparks Debate in Osun Over Adeleke’s Tinubu Alliance
Social media influencers in Oyo, Lagos, Kwara express support for Accord candidate
The presidential ambition of the Accord Party candidate, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, is generating discussions in Osun State, particularly among some radio callers and social media commentators questioning Governor Ademola Adeleke’s reported support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The debate has featured contributions from callers on some radio stations, including Diamond FM, Unique FM and King FM, where participants have reportedly expressed varying views on Hashim’s presidential aspiration and Adeleke’s political alignment.
Similarly, videos circulating on TikTok and Facebook show some content creators identified as Almaruf, Doki Dorcas, The God and Unusual Challenges expressing support for Hashim while commenting on the governor’s position ahead of the 2027 general election.
In one of the videos, Doki Dorcas appealed to residents of Osun State to consider supporting Hashim’s presidential ambition, while Almaruf questioned the political implications of Accord supporters aligning with the APC.
“We rejected APC by voting for Accord, and we won’t return to our vomit,” Almaruf said in the video.
The discussions have also reportedly extended beyond Osun, with some social media influencers in Oyo, Kwara and Lagos using their platforms to express support for Hashim and promote his presidential agenda.
The development has provided another dimension to political conversations in the Southwest, particularly regarding party loyalty, political alliances and the choices available to voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has indicated its intention to expand its mobilisation activities across the Southwest.
The movement’s Southwest Coordinator, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, has reportedly set a target of mobilising three million votes for Hashim across the region in the forthcoming presidential election.
Although the actual electoral impact of the online campaigns and radio discussions remains to be established, the activities have brought Hashim’s candidacy into some ongoing political conversations in the region.
The debate also highlights differing opinions among political supporters over Adeleke’s reported alignment with Tinubu, with issues of party identity, political consistency and voters’ right to independent choices likely to remain part of the discourse ahead of the 2027 elections.
