The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, will tomorrow hold its annual health walk as part of activities marking the 35th anniversary of the council.
The exercise, organised by the council’s Health Walk Committee, is designed to promote physical fitness, healthy living and the general well-being of journalists in Osun State.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson of the Health Walk Committee, Comrade Wumi Olaniyi, and its Secretary, Comrade Ayobami Agboola, participants will take off from the NUJ Press Centre, beside the Technical College, Osogbo.
The route will pass through Capital Estate and Dada Estate to Dele Yes Sir before participants return to the Press Centre.
The statement listed the Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), Dr Rasaq Akindele, and Hon. Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode (ITK), a candidate for the Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun Federal Constituency, among the notable personalities expected at the event, alongside other top government functionaries.
It added that the health walk is sponsored by Moniepoint, ITK and OHIS as part of efforts to support the initiative and encourage healthy living among journalists.
The statement further disclosed that Moniepoint State Coordinator, Pastor Olufemi Olaniyan, would lead his team to the event, where interested union members would have the opportunity to open bank accounts and receive ATM cards free of charge after the exercise.
The committee urged all NUJ members to turn out en masse and assemble at the Press Centre by 7:00 a.m. for a briefing ahead of the commencement of the walk.
It reiterated that the initiative forms part of activities to commemorate the NUJ Osun State Council’s 35 years of service to journalism and the promotion of journalists’ welfare.
