Osun Signage Agency Denies Political Bias, Defends Removal Of Omigbodun’s Posters
The Osun State Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency, popularly known as O’Signage, has denied allegations of political bias levelled against it by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Osun Central, Mr Goke Omigbodun, over the removal of lampposts bearing his photographs.
The agency described the allegations as unfounded, insisting that its enforcement operations were guided by regulatory requirements and had no political undertone.
In a statement signed by Hon. Muyiwa Olufajo, Consultant to the Osun State Government on O’Signage, the agency said its operations were independent of Governor Ademola Adeleke, stressing that the governor had never directed it to act for or against any political candidate.
“We wish to state categorically that the operations of O’Signage have no relationship with Governor Ademola Adeleke. At no point has the governor directed us to take any action against or in favour of anyone,” the statement said.
The agency explained that it dealt directly with advertising practitioners responsible for obtaining the necessary permits and approvals for outdoor advertising installations, rather than with individuals seeking to display their campaign materials.
It added that it had no record of any application or approval for the lampposts bearing Omigbodun’s photographs, noting that the installation of such structures required compliance with the agency’s regulatory procedures.
According to the statement, the agency’s enforcement team removed only eight lampposts bearing the SDP candidate’s photographs during a routine exercise conducted on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
The agency further claimed that it had received information indicating that more than 40 lampposts bearing the candidate’s photographs had been erected within Osogbo metropolis.
O’Signage urged Omigbodun to engage an authorised advertising practitioner, submit the necessary applications and obtain the required approvals before erecting lampposts for his campaign.
It said compliance with the established procedures would help prevent the installation of advertising structures in unauthorised locations.
The agency also assured political parties and candidates that it would treat all of them equally, irrespective of their political affiliations, and provide equal opportunities in line with its regulatory responsibilities.
It reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing advertising regulations across the state, adding that it would continue to take necessary steps to ensure compliance with the rules governing outdoor advertisements.
