2027: Adebutu Urges Supporters to Remain Calm Over Omission From INEC List

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 election, Oladipupo Adebutu, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm following the omission of his name from the list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adebutu, in a statement issued on Sunday, expressed confidence in his eligibility to contest the election, insisting that he remained a duly registered member of the PDP and had fulfilled the requirements for his candidacy.

He explained that he completed his digital membership registration within the stipulated period, adding that his membership card had been printed and verified before the necessary documents were submitted to INEC.

According to him, the PDP primary election that produced him as the party’s governorship candidate was conducted in the presence of INEC officials, who attended the exercise as observers.

He further stated that the relevant documents were presented for verification, certification and confirmation, expressing concern over the circumstances surrounding the omission of his name from the electoral commission’s list.

The PDP candidate also alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State was exerting pressure on INEC, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the development.

Adebutu wondered why his name was missing from the list while candidates of the PDP contesting seats in the Ogun State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate were included.

He urged his supporters not to panic over the development, reiterating that he had complied with the party’s membership and nomination requirements.

Adebutu maintained that INEC officials witnessed the party’s governorship primary, expressing confidence in the processes leading to his emergence as the PDP candidate for the 2027 election.
