Family Of Abducted OAU Lecturer Begs Kidnappers To Free Their Son

The family of abducted Obafemi Awolowo University OAU lecturer, Prof Yinka Adegbehingbe, are pleading with the kidnappers of their son, to release him unconditionally to enable him reunite with his family and return to work.
Speaking with CityMirrorNews Correspondent on phone, the younger brother to the wife of the abducted lecturer, Mr Kola Olabojede called on security agencies to intensify efforts towards the release of Prof. Adegbehingbe.
He said , the incident has thrown the family into serious mourning , adding that they had been running helter skelter to secure his release.
He however appreciated the concern of all and sundry who swung into action to see to the release of his elder sister’s husband and appealed to the security agencies to expedite action in securing his freedom.
Olabojede, said that, the wife of the lecturer was resting and she would not want to be disturbed.
Visit to the Faculty of Orthopaedic surgery where the lecturer is believed to be working, wore a mournful look as many workers especially the kidnapped victim’s colleagues were seen discussing the matter in twos and threes.
Academic activities were partially grounded as people in the faculty were in a sorrowful mood when our correspondent visited the place.
As at the time of filing this report, other family sources said that,the kidnappers were yet to establish contacts with the family of the abductors.
When contacted on the development, the state police command which spoke through its Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro assured that, the police are already working hard to see that, the abducted lecturer is rescued from his abductors.
She said,the police had swung into action since the night of the incident and promised to get to the root of it in no distance time.
According to her ” we are investigating the case already and our officers are walking round the clock to see that the matter is well thrashed”.
In his comment,the OAU public relations officer, Mr. Biodun Olanrewaju also thanked the security agencies for their rapid response to the incident.
He specifically mentioned the effort of the state police commissioner, Mrs. Abiodun Ige whom he said, went to the scene of the incident physically with his officers to comb the place to ensure the release of the abducted lecturer.
Olanrewaju however appealed to the security men to speed action to secure the release of the lecturer.
It would be recalled that Prof. Adegbehingbe, was on Sunday night kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Ife/Ibadan expressway. He was kidnapped on his way to Ife around 6:00 pm on Sunday.
He was kidnapped around Ikire, Irewole local government area of Osun state.
It was gathered that his wife was in the car with other two passengers, yet to be identified as at the time of filing this report.
