APM Accuses Adeleke Of Nepotism, Favouritism
-Say He’s concentrating bulk of Osun State’s infrastructural projects in hometown, Ede,
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Osun State Chapter, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of running a lopsided administration that allegedly concentrates the bulk of Osun State’s infrastructural projects in his hometown, Ede, at the expense of other parts of the state.
In a statement signed by its State Chairman, Hon. Adewale Adebayo, the party alleged that since assuming office in 2022, Governor Adeleke has governed in a manner that promotes “nepotism, favoritism, and disregard for inclusiveness,” thereby alienating other parts of the state from equitable development.
APM cited the Governor’s decision to erect a statue of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, at the entrance of the Osun State Secretariat in Abere, and to officially change the Secretariat’s address from Osogbo to Abere, as early signs of what it described as “deliberate favoritism toward Ede.”
The opposition party claimed that while Osun has reportedly received nearly ₦1 trillion in federal allocations in the last three years, road projects have been disproportionately concentrated in Ede.
“Every major road in Ede has either been rehabilitated or newly constructed under Adeleke’s watch, while towns like Osogbo, the state capital, and other senatorial districts have been left behind,” Adebayo alleged.
Among projects highlighted by the APM are: The dual carriageway from Akoda–Redeemer University junction to Oke-Gada.
Another dual carriageway from Abere to Ede, spanning over 5km.The 10km Ofatedo–Ede dualisation project. A dual carriageway from Oke-Gada road to Ara Junction.
“These alone amount to over 25km of quality road projects in Ede, while no other town in Osun can boast of even 3km of road construction under Adeleke’s administration,” APM stated.
The party further alleged that projects recently flagged off in other towns were politically motivated responses to defections from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“For instance, when Senator Francis Fadahunsi from Ijesaland defected from the PDP, the Governor hurriedly flagged off a token 3km dualisation in Ilesa. Similarly, after Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi of Ila-Orangun left the PDP, Adeleke announced another project in Ila, neglecting the more critical Ila–Ora–Kwara boundary road that remains impassable,” the statement read.
APM also faulted the Governor for suspending his Ipade Imole accountability sessions, accusing him of “choosing opacity over transparency” and avoiding public scrutiny.
The party concluded by warning that Osun people would not tolerate “a government that prioritises one town over the entire state,” adding that it is prepared to offer “an inclusive and people-driven alternative in 2026.”
