INEC Opens Portal For Ad Hoc Staff Recruitment Ahead Of Osun Gov’ship Poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026.
The electoral body announced that its online recruitment portal opened on June 27 and will remain accessible to interested applicants until 12:00 midnight on July 18, 2026.
According to a notice issued by the commission, applications are being invited from qualified Nigerians to fill various election duties, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers, and Registration Area Technicians (RATECHs).
INEC stated that eligible applicants for the position of Supervisory Presiding Officer include serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), staff of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), National Population Commission (NPC), as well as qualified unengaged INEC staff.
For the positions of Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer, the commission said serving corps members, former corps members and students in their penultimate year in tertiary institutions are qualified to apply.
The commission added that heads of schools and staff of educational institutions designated as Registration Area Centres will serve as RAC Managers, while suitable INEC personnel will be engaged as Registration Area Technicians.
INEC stressed that applicants must be non-partisan, noting that anyone who is a member of a political party or has publicly demonstrated support for any political party or candidate is not eligible for engagement.
The commission urged all qualified applicants to complete their registration through its official recruitment portal before the July 18 deadline, emphasizing that only successful candidates will be contacted for further screening and deployment.
The recruitment exercise forms part of INEC’s preparations for the smooth conduct of the Osun State off-cycle governorship election on August 15, 2026.
