Oyinlola Replaces Saraki As Chairman Of PDP Nat’l Reconciliation C’ttee
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reconstituted its National Reconciliation Committee with former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the Chairman.
Oyinlola replaced former President of the Senate and two-term governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki, who served in the same capacity under Prince Uche Secondus’ administration.
The 25-member committee, which has six members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), has former Gombe State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, a BoT member, High Chief Ben Ndi Obi, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, among others.
PDP in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, did not give reasons for the reconstitution of the committee.
But it may not be unconnected with the crisis that dog the party since the May 2022 Presidential Primary, which saw many PDP members, including sitting governors refusing to support the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The ongoing Ward, Local Government and State congresses of the party in about 27 states, have also affected unity in the PDP.
No date was fixed for the inauguration of the committee, but PDP in the statement, called on “all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the PDP to remain focused and committed to the vision, principles and aspiration of our great party in the overall interest of the growth, development and stability of the PDP and the nation.”
Oyinlola was also former National Secretary of the party.
