INEC Begins PVC Distribution Ahead Of Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for eligible voters ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The Commission said the exercise is meant for persons who registered, applied for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, INEC disclosed that the PVC distribution would be carried out in two phases to make the process more accessible and convenient for voters across the state.

According to the Commission, the first phase will take place at the 332 Registration Areas across Osun State from Wednesday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The exercise will run daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

INEC stated that the second phase would commence on Wednesday, July 29 and end on Friday, August 7, 2026, at its Local Government Area offices across the state, with collection also taking place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., including weekends.

The electoral body urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, stressing that the card remains the only valid means of accreditation and voting during the governorship election.

It added that uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises would also be made available for collection during the exercise.

The Commission, however, warned that the collection of PVCs is strictly personal, noting that collection by proxy is prohibited and constitutes an electoral offence.

“The Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance,” the statement read.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State.

The Commission also advised members of the public seeking further information to visit the nearest INEC Local Government office or contact the Osun State INEC office through its official communication channels.
