FNBSD Expresses Concern Over Growing Wave Of Political Violence In Osun
The Forum for Nation Builders and Social Development, a non-governmental organisation, has expressed deep concern over the growing tension and senseless loss of lives arising from political activities in Ọṣun State.
The Forum in a statement issued by its Chairman, Alhaji Lateef-Bakare, said no political ambition is worth the life of any citizen.
Condemning all acts of if violence, the forum said it finds it disturbing that politics, which should be about service, development, and improving the lives of the people, is increasingly becoming associated with violence, fear, and bloodshed.
“No political ambition is worth the life of any citizen.
“We strongly condemn all acts of violence and call on politicians and their supporters to exercise restraint, embrace dialogue, and conduct their activities peacefully.
“The people of Ọṣun State deserve to live without fear and should not be made victims of political disagreements.
“We also urge security agencies to act swiftly and impartially in investigating these incidents and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice, regardless of their political affiliation.
“As a people, we must place the peace, unity, and progress of Ọṣun State above personal and partisan interests.
“The future of our state depends on our collective commitment to peace and responsible leadership”
