Osun Imams Seek Asiwaju Badmus’ Support To Strengthen Islamic Forum

The Forum of United Imams and Khatheebs in Osun State has appealed to the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus, to support the association’s efforts to reposition and strengthen its activities for the advancement of Islam in Osun State and beyond.

The appeal was made during a courtesy visit to Asiwaju Badmus in Osogbo by the leadership of the forum, led by its Deputy President, Sheikh Abdul Raheem Bushra.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Bushra recalled that Asiwaju Badmus encouraged the formation of the association nearly three decades ago, noting that despite surviving over the years, the forum has faced several challenges that have slowed its growth and development.

He said the association requires greater support to effectively discharge its responsibilities and called for increased recognition from the Osun State Government in matters relating to Islamic affairs.

The forum also expressed its commitment to working in line with the guidance and leadership of Asiwaju Badmus, particularly on issues concerning the future administration of Osun State and the welfare of the Muslim community.

Responding, Asiwaju Badmus expressed delight that the association, which he helped establish many years ago, has remained in existence despite the challenges it has encountered.

He urged members of the forum to remain united, stressing that unity among Islamic leaders is essential for the peace, progress and development of Muslims in the state.

According to him, only a united association can effectively advocate for the interests of the Muslim community and earn the recognition it deserves from both the government and society.

“You are our Imams with many faithful queuing behind you in every Solat. There is a need for you to remain united to advance the cause of Muslims,” Badmus said.

The Asiwaju Musulumi also pledged to support the association’s aspirations and promised to engage the Osun State Government on areas where assistance could be provided to the forum.

The Forum of United Imams and Khatheebs in Osun State is made up of clerics who lead the weekly Jumat prayers in mosques across the state.
