Oyetola’s Wife Reiterates Commitment To Promoting Environmental Health, Preaches Against Open Defecation

Wife of the Governor of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola says the government of the state under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has put in place measures to stop open defecation.

Mrs Oyetola also restated her commitment to continue to lead open Defecation campaign in every nooks and crannies of the State.

The first lady made this known in her office during the courtesy visit by the Ministry of water resources and hygiene team led by the Honorable Commissioner Dr Aminu Tadese and the Special Adviser to the Governor on water Resources Eng. Abitoye felix.

Mrs Oyetola emphasized that collective efforts is needed to free Osun from all forms of open defecation act, charging all stakeholders to join her and other supporting team in the race to put an end to the practice.

Mrs Oyetola further stated that, open defecation carries a lot of grave health consequences for citizens in any communities where such act is in practice such as water borne disease, diarrhoea , Cholera and typhoid fever among others

She retirated that immediately after the whole world overcome the COVID 19 pandemic, her office will continue with the campaign until Osun is free from Open defecation practice.

Speaking during the visit,the Honorable Commissioner for water resource and Hygiene Dr Amidu Tadese commended the efforts of the wife of the Governor for been passionate with the issue concerning women, children and Vulnerable in the State.

He added that, his agency has join the the train in sensitizing people most especially rural dwellers on the danger of practicing the barbaric act of open defecation in the noon and crannies of Osun.

World Toilet Day: Oyo Govt moves to end open defecation

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr Kehinde Ayoola, made this known in Ibadan on Tuesday while addressing newsmen at the commemoration of the 2019 World Toilet Day.

Ayoola said that government was taking proactive steps to stop open defecation in the state through the state’s Rural Water and Sanitation Programme.
