NANS Commends OSPOLY Management On Students’ Welfare, Technology-Driven Reforms

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Afees Babatunde, has commended the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), for prioritising students’ welfare and implementing policies aimed at improving academic standards.

Akinteye gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the institution, where he was received by the Rector, Comrade Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, alongside members of the Polytechnic’s management team.

Speaking during the visit, the NANS President described the Polytechnic’s leadership as student-friendly and responsive, noting that the administration had consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare and overall development of students.

He particularly praised the management for providing a brand-new 18-seater bus for the Students’ Union Government (SUG), describing the gesture as evidence of its dedication to addressing students’ needs.

Akinteye also lauded the institution for improving internet connectivity across the campus and introducing a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) system, saying the initiatives align with global best practices in education and digital learning.

While acknowledging the achievements of the management, the NANS President appealed for the upgrade of the Students’ Union Building to provide a more conducive environment for union activities.

He also urged the institution to strengthen the implementation of the CBE system by addressing concerns raised by students through sustained sensitisation, adequate facilities and improved technical support.

According to him, students deserve value for every legitimate fee paid to the institution, particularly in technology-driven learning and assessment.

“I cannot object to the technological advancement and innovative initiatives introduced by the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. However, it is important that students are adequately sensitised, while all necessary equipment and facilities are put in place to ensure the successful implementation of these laudable programmes,” he said.

Responding, the Rector, Comrade Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, appreciated the NANS leadership for the visit and its constructive observations.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to policies and programmes that would further improve students’ academic performance, enhance their welfare and create a more conducive learning environment.

Alabi added that the management would continue to welcome constructive feedback from stakeholders while prioritising initiatives that positively impact students and sustain the institution’s reputation for academic excellence and innovation.

Also speaking, the President of the Students’ Union Government, Comrade Ajayi Kehinde, who conducted the NANS President on a tour of facilities across the campus, said the management had consistently responded positively to requests from both the SUG and NANS.

According to him, the administration has continued to demonstrate its commitment to students’ welfare through the provision of essential infrastructure, improved learning facilities, enhanced internet services and other interventions aimed at creating a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

The visit further strengthened the relationship between the Polytechnic management and the national leadership of NANS, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to sustained collaboration in promoting quality education, students’ welfare and institutional development.
