Osun First Lady, Titilola Adeleke Leads Campaign Against Spread Of Cervical Cancer, Measles

Charges Citizens To Support Initiatives Projected At Ending The Menace
Osun First Lady, Chief Mrs Titilola Adeleke has championed the course to curb the continuous spread of cervical cancer and Measles in Osun state especially among young girls of teen ages.
The First Lady speaking at a one day awareness and sensitization workshop to equip the public on the danger and threat associated with these diseases with ways to avert them encouraged all Parents and Guardians to pay premium attention to their children and wards health through regular and early detection medical tests.
She confirmed the availability of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Measles Rubella (MR) vaccines in all the state health facilities.
The frontline campaign against these deadly diseases by the First Lady complements Governor Ademola Adeleke broader plans to provide sound, affordable and accessible health services to the citizens.
The awareness being an initiative of the Nigeria Governors Spouses’ Forum focuses to put an end to the spread and harmful effect of these menace in Nigeria.
The well attended event today featured lectures by Mrs Olaore, (Osun State Immunization Officer) who gave explicit and in-depth insight on improving personal hygiene, avoid premarital and unprotected sex among young girls, reporting early signs to nearest hospitals to seek necessary medical attentions.
Mrs Olaore charged Parents to ensure completion of measles immunisation vaccines and spread the gospel to denounce insinuations that measles vaccines are deadly to infants.
Speaking at the programme, Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Akintola appreciated Mrs. Adeleke for the sensitization programme, describing it as timely and purposeful. He called on mothers to seriously personal hygiene and ensure a safe life style for their children as a way to reduce risk factors.
The programme held at Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo was well attended by government officials and political functionaries who added to the ambience of the event. Among them are, Deaconess Olusola Adewusi (Wife of Deputy Governor), Dr Micheal Oyerinde (Special Adviser on Primary Health Care), Hon Mrs Temilade Khalid (Special Adviser on Children Affairs), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health represented by Mr Boladele.
Others are Hon (Mrs) Felicia Adeniran, Executive Chairperson, Ayedaade Local Government, Mrs Adenike Adeleke, (Wife of the Commissioner for Budget and Economy Planning), Mrs Monisade Awotunde (Wife of the State ALGON Chairman), religious bodies, representatives of World Health Organisations (W.H.O) and UNICEF.
