Guber Poll: APC Elders’ Reconciliation Drive Boosts Osun Campaign, LCDA Chairmen Express Confidence
By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
Chairmen of three Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Osogbo Federal Constituency have expressed optimism that the reconciliation and mobilisation efforts initiated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Caucus, popularly known as Igbimo Agba, will strengthen the party ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The chairmen, who spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the caucus for party leaders and members in Osogbo, said the intervention had come at a critical period when unity within the party was essential to its electoral success.
Chairman of Osogbo West LCDA, Hon. Adeniyan Ademola, described the visit of the party elders as a strategic move aimed at consolidating the APC’s structure and inspiring members to work towards the victory of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
According to him, the engagement would strengthen members’ commitment and provide the direction needed for an effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.
“The governorship election is around the corner, and the elders’ intervention is timely. They are here to unite and strengthen us, while reminding every member of the role expected of us as we work towards victory,” he said.
Adeniyan expressed confidence in the party’s chances, saying the APC candidate had continued to receive positive reception across the state because of his leadership qualities and experience.
He appealed to residents to support Oyebamiji at the polls, expressing optimism that the APC would secure victory.
Also speaking, Chairman of Osogbo South LCDA, Hon. Bolanle Jimoh, said party members had eagerly anticipated the meeting, particularly as it provided an avenue to resolve grievances arising from the party’s internal processes.
She noted that the reconciliation initiative would reinforce unity among members and improve the party’s readiness for the election.
Jimoh urged eligible voters to participate peacefully in the governorship poll, assuring them that security agencies were capable of maintaining law and order.
She also called on security agencies to remain vigilant and deal decisively with individuals who might attempt to disrupt the electoral process.
On his part, Chairman of Irepodun South LCDA, Hon. Adekunle Oloyede, described the gathering as an opportunity to strengthen party cohesion across the federal constituency.
He said the elders reassured members that commitment and loyalty would continue to receive recognition within the party, a development he said would further motivate grassroots supporters.
Oloyede also expressed satisfaction with the turnout recorded at the party’s recent governorship campaign flag-off in Ile-Ife, describing it as a demonstration of the APC’s growing momentum ahead of the election.
He expressed confidence that the party’s governorship candidate would enjoy widespread support at the polls.
The stakeholders’ meeting formed part of the APC elders’ statewide consultation aimed at fostering reconciliation, strengthening party structures and mobilising members ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
