Osun Poll: Get Ready To Employ Gov Adeleke, Uzodimma Tells Davido

The Chairman of the National Campaign Council for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has called on Nigerian singer, Davido to focus on preparing his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for life after politics.

Uzodimma made this call following Davido, born David Adeleke’s appeal for a free, fair and credible governorship election in Osun State.

CityMirrorNews had earlier reported that Davido during a press conference on Wednesday, called on an unnamed Imo politician to ensure that the August 15 governorship election was conducted without interference, saying he had received reports of alleged plans to influence the outcome.

Although he did not mention Governor Uzodimma by name, the singer appealed for peace and insisted that Osun voters should be allowed to freely choose their next governor.

Reacting in a statement issued on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Uzodimma said Davido’s appeal was misplaced and advised him to direct his message to the electorate instead.

He argued that Adeleke had lost the confidence of many Osun residents and expressed confidence that voters would reject him at the polls.

“The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has, in the opinion of many, failed woefully in the discharge of his responsibilities.

“This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026, governorship election,” the statement read.

Uzodimma further claimed that the political mood across the state favoured the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying voters were ready to embrace a new administration.

He also advised Davido to spend more time preparing his uncle for a possible defeat rather than making what he described as emotional appeals.

“Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office, as the people of Osun appear ready to cast their votes massively in favour of the APC candidate.”

In a more pointed remark, the governor said Davido should “begin making preparations to officially sign his uncle as a dancer in his musical band,” insisting that Adeleke’s tenure would end after the August 15 governorship election.

The exchange adds to the heated political atmosphere ahead of the Osun governorship poll, where Adeleke is seeking a second term amid an increasingly intense contest between the PDP and the APC.
