Osun Govt Challenges APC To Verify Identity Of Bad Road Featured In Tribune Advert

The Osun State Government on Tuesday challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to verify the identity of a dilapidated road featured in its advertorial published in the Nigerian Tribune, insisting that the road was constructed by the immediate past administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and not the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The government described the advertorial as misleading, maintaining that the road in question is located at Mukoro in Ile-Ife, contrary to the APC’s claim that it is in Modakeke.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the government said it had released the GPS coordinates of the road to enable members of the public independently verify its exact location through Google Maps.

According to the statement, the Adeleke administration has ongoing road projects across Ife and Modakeke, but stressed that the road featured in the APC publication is not one of them.

“The road published as advertorial on the front page of the Nigerian Tribune by the Osun APC on August 4 was constructed by the Oyetola administration. The road is located at Mukoro, Ile-Ife, not Modakeke as indicated in the advertorial,” the statement said.

The government described the publication as misinformation and alleged that the opposition was attempting to attribute defects in projects executed by the previous administration to the Adeleke government.

It added that the current administration has continued to carry out remedial and corrective works on several inherited projects, arguing that blaming it for the condition of the road was misleading.

Alimi urged residents and the general public to verify the facts independently, insisting that available records and the GPS location confirm that the road was executed during the Oyetola administration.
