Police Arrest Two suspected Robbers In Lagos, Recover Gun
The Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with a local vigilante group, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made cut-to-size Dane gun and three live cartridges during a crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the suspects attempted to escape after spotting the security team but were swiftly apprehended.
During the patrol operation, the operatives intercepted the two suspects, who were carrying a handbag and attempted to flee upon sighting the security team. They were swiftly apprehended, and a search conducted on the handbag in their possession led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size Dane gun and three live cartridges,” the statement read.
The police identified the suspects as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29.

The statement added, “The suspects are currently in custody and assisting the Police with ongoing investigations, after which they will be charged to court accordingly.”
Commending the operatives and members of the local vigilante group, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, praised their vigilance and cooperation in foiling the suspected criminals.
According to the statement, the CP “commended the operatives and members of the local vigilante group for their vigilance, prompt response and collaboration, which led to the successful arrest and recovery.”
The police commissioner also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding residents and warned criminal elements to stay away from crime.
“He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Lagos State and warned criminal elements to desist from all forms of criminal activities or face the full weight of the law,” the statement added.
