Queen Rashidat Ladoja Bags Women Of Impact Award For Humanitarian, Women Empowerment Efforts
The Wife of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Queen (Barr.) Rashidat Olayinka Ladoja, has been honoured with the Women of Impact Award at the 8th edition of the Justice Aderemi Annual Lecture Series (JAALS) Foundation Awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanitarian service, the legal profession, and the empowerment of women.
The award was presented during the annual lecture held at the Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State. The event was themed, “Women and the Ballot: Strengthening Women’s Representation in Nigerian Politics.”
Represented at the ceremony by Dr. Adefunke Olaniyan, Queen Ladoja expressed gratitude to the JAALS Foundation for the honour, describing the recognition as a motivation to continue championing initiatives that improve the lives of women and other vulnerable members of society.
She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting programmes that encourage social development, compassion, gender equality, and inclusive growth, stressing that women remain critical stakeholders in national development.
Delivering the keynote address, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, urged women to participate actively in politics, beginning from the grassroots, noting that there should be no limits to the heights women can attain in leadership and public service.
She called on women to support one another in their political aspirations while appealing to civil society organisations and the media to sustain advocacy for increased female participation in governance.
According to Dabiri-Erewa, mentorship and capacity-building for women aspiring to elective and appointive offices would help bridge the gender gap in politics and strengthen women’s representation across all levels of government.
The NiDCOM boss was also honoured with an award at the event alongside other distinguished personalities from various professions for their remarkable contributions to national development.
Earlier, the Director of the JAALS Foundation, Dr. Tolu Aderemi, highlighted the foundation’s achievements in supporting vulnerable groups through humanitarian interventions aimed at improving lives and giving hope to the less privileged.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Nigeria’s first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Folake Solanke, as well as other accomplished women who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession, governance, and national development.
