By Zeitunat Olawale & Mumeenah Olagunju
The Osun State Accord party Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been rejected by the people of Osun State over alleged failures of governors who ruled the state under the platform.
Akande disclosed this at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel on Thursday in Osogbo.
He added that Osun people rejected the party (APC) because of the hardship and suffering APC has inflicted on them during the tenure of past APC administrations.
The chairman stated, “They (APC) were the ruling party before but people rejected them because of the hardship and suffering they inflicted on them.”
“It has become history that when they were ruling party in this state, the issue of half salary came to being during their governments. A lot of pensioners died during their (APC) party’s administration because their salaries were not paid.”
He added that APC also squandered the cooperatives that the workers were doing then.
Akande also declared Ademola Adeleke as the Accord’s sole candidate for 2026 governorship election.
He recognised the achievements of Adeleke in his three years in office including completion of abandoned projects, construction of fly overs in Osogbo among others.
The chairman noted that Accord Party has connections with all the political parties including Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Akande also declared that there’s no leadership problem as far as the Accord Party is concerned, noting that “The man claiming to be the Party National Chairman, Professor Chris Imumolen did not show up for screening at all ”
The party chief urged the police not to allow themselves to be used by any political party.
According to him, “We trust God and the people of Osun to win the August 8 Osun governorship election.”
