Adeleke, Akinleye, Faseru Named Patrons as Elegboro Inaugurates Olajengbesi’s Campaign Council

The Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, has expressed confidence in the candidacy of Pelumi Olajengbesi, declaring that the ancestors of Ijesa North would support his ambition to represent Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The monarch made the declaration on Friday, October 9, 2026, during the inauguration of the Pelumi Olajengbesi House of Representatives Campaign Council at the Ijebu-Jesa Town Hall, Osun State.

Speaking at the event, Oba Agunsoye expressed optimism about Olajengbesi’s political aspiration, saying the ancestors had a role to play in his candidacy. He added that any obstacle to the candidate’s ambition would be reversed through their intervention.

The event was attended by other traditional rulers, including the Olomo of Omo-Ijesa and the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa, whose presence underscored the traditional significance of the gathering.

The inauguration attracted political leaders, party stakeholders, community representatives, professionals, women, youths, students and grassroots mobilisers from across Oriade and Obokun local government areas.

As part of the council’s leadership structure, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye and High Chief Dele Faseru were named patrons of the campaign organisation.

Hon. Mayowa Adejorin was appointed chairman of the council, while Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe will serve as deputy chairman. Prince Adesoji Baderin was named director-general.

Hon. Ladesuyi Tope and Hon. Sola Adeyekun were appointed deputy directors-general for Obokun and Oriade, respectively. Hon. Omotoso Eniola will serve as secretary, while Hon. Ademola Asaju was named assistant secretary. Sodiq Lawal Chocomilo will serve as the council’s spokesperson.

To strengthen its operational capacity, the campaign council has established 20 committees to coordinate its activities and oversee various aspects of the campaign.

The committees will handle areas including elders and stakeholder engagement, strategy and political planning, mobilisation and field operations, ward coordination, youth and women mobilisation, media and publicity, digital and new media, research and policy, legal and compliance, and election planning and monitoring.

Others are support groups, finance and fundraising, logistics, security, professional and business engagement, students’ affairs, religious and faith-based engagement, party affairs, and diaspora and external engagement.

The committees are expected to drive grassroots mobilisation, strengthen stakeholder relationships, coordinate campaign communication, support policy development and enhance election preparedness across the constituency.

Olajengbesi, a lawyer, is the Accord Party’s candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
