Adeleke Unveils Plan For Statewide Security Surveillance System In Osun
Project To Deploy Drones, AI cameras, Radar, Robotics Across Schools, Farms, Commercial Centres
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has initiated plans for a statewide security and surveillance project in partnership with Chinese technology firm, Hefei Shengwen Information Technology Company Limited.
The proposed initiative is designed to strengthen security monitoring across the state through the deployment of modern technology, including drones, radar systems, artificial intelligence-enabled cameras, robotics and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke met with executives of the company on Monday to discuss and finalise details of the planned project.
The company’s delegation was led by its Director of International Operations, Mr Cai Jianfei, and Manager of Overseas Operations, Mr Nemo Guo.
The proposed system will feature a central Command and Control Centre from which security developments across Osun would be monitored in real time, round the clock.
The initiative is also expected to include a Safe School Project and a decentralised mobile application that would enable residents to communicate with the command centre and report security-related concerns.
Under the proposed arrangement, surveillance coverage would extend to schools, banks, industries, farms, mining sites, commercial centres, bus parks and motor garages, as well as major towns and key routes across the state.
Speaking on the initiative, Cai reportedly described the project as an inclusive security framework designed to integrate the capacity of the state government with technology to protect residents, businesses and other critical establishments.
He also invited Adeleke to undertake a working visit to China in connection with the proposed partnership.
The governor, while commenting on the plan, referenced his administration’s establishment of the Osun State Security Trust Fund, saying the proposed surveillance system would introduce new technologies into the state’s security architecture.
“Our plan is to create an inclusive security platform that will fully secure and protect our people. From schools, hospitals, businesses and border communities, this initiative is a strategic option,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.
The proposed project is expected to support security monitoring across different sectors of the state. Further details on its implementation, funding, timeline and operational arrangements were not provided in the statement.
