Functional Education Necessary For Sustainable Development In Nigeria — Olagoke

Founder and spiritual Head , Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide, Prof. Sabit Ariyo Olagoke has said that Nigerians need functional education that will promote inclusive society, civility and good governance as the world tends towards technology- driven society with global best practices.

Prof. Olagoke who stated this in a lecture titled ‘Shaping The Future Of Education In Nigeria, The Future Is Now” during the 30th Annual Stakeholders Conference of the organization held recently ,said this can only be achieved if credible leaders with zero tolerance for corruption and institutional indicipline is put in place.

According to him, luckily for us , the 2023 elections will avail us the opportunity to achieve this if we make a right choice of a visionary leader of hat will be spirit led to operationalize democracy through justice and equity to propel Nigeria with peace and sustainable development and a safe and secure environment

“Functional education is necessary to drive out culture into its vore values of integrity, religion to uphold the sanctity of sacredness for our houses of God to produce men and women of honor and moral discipline while our political space would be able to be managed by patriotic political gladiators that would be able to deliver while serving us through transparency and accountability for the accelerated development to be realised. ” he added

The Islamic scholar further explained that knowledge-driven economy will also be felt in the area of Information Communication Technology ( ICT) going by the present Digital Revolution which will promote peace and sustainable development.

Speakers at the conference among whom is an educationist and former high ranking official of the Central Bank Of Nigeria ( CBN) , Alhaji Yusuf Al-aadi described Prof. Sabit Ariyo Olagoke as a charismatic and resoursful leader who has impacted positively on the lives of people from all walks of life.

They identified the issue of putting “round pegs in square holes “as one of the major problems bedeviling the education sector in Nigeria

The event also featured presentation of prizes to winners of the 18th edition of the annual Olagoke Education Competition. Adeoye Ikmot of Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan came first with 77 percent in the Senior Secondary school category while Oke Mubarak of Al-aadi Unique College, Oyo, clinched the first position in the Junior Secondary School category.
