APC Crisis Exposes Aregbesola’s Financial Recklessness-PDP Stalwart
By Oluwamayowa Ojo
A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Mr Funmiso Babarinde has said that the crisis between Governor Rauf Aregbesola and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Fatai Diekola has exposed the financial recklessness of the governor.
Babarinde in an interview with CityMirrorNews today Wednesday said it amounted to callousness, misplacement of priority and total disregard to the plight of the civil servants in the state for Aregbesola to be spending lavishly on leaders of the APC at the expense of the welfare of the state workers.
The PDP stalwart said the revelation of financial commitment of Aregbesola’s N1m monthly and N7m quarterly medical allowances to Diekola showed that the governor had been running a paddy-paddy government to the detriment of the people of the state.
His word: “The revelations coming from the camp of the governor and that of Alhaji Fatai Diekola about finances and government patronage show how reckless Aregbesola has been.
“It is not out of place to say that Aregbesola deliberately starved the civil servants and pensioners of their salaries and pensions because money that should ordinarily be paid with the accrued revenue was being use to finance individuals.
“It is sad to know that Osun APC has been running a paddy-paddy government, albeit giving expensive and over bloated contracts to his cronies at the corridor of power.
“A government that for six years did not conduct a local government election, did not appoint any commissioner or special adviser for over two years on the excuse of no fund but has enough resources to satisfy his cabal is a wicked government.
“I hope people can see and analyse the situations correctly against the future for them to double check those to put in charge of our commonwealth.”
