Jumokol On The Spotlight Again
By Musa Adeniyi
It would not be an overstatement that the Felix Kolawole Ogunwale aka Jumokol is a name that rings bell in the ears of the people as far as politics of Osun state is concerned, particularly, with the inception of the current democracy in 1999.
The name is ever- relevant and outstanding particularly, among the masses because of the intimacy of Jumokol with the people at the grassroot.
Senator Felix Kolawole Ogunwale is from Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe local government area of in Osun State.
He is an astute politician whose understanding of Osun state politics has made him a charismatic personality and a crowd puller particularly in his senatorial district and in the whole of Osun state.
The Asiwaju of Iragbiji land is a tested and trusted leader. Between 2003 and 2007 that he was in the Senate representing Osun central Senatorial district, he performed so excellently well that the then Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola gave him a letter of commendation as the best Senator from Osun State.
It is an established fact that Jumokol and a few juggernauts built the People’s Democratic party PDP from obscurity to stardom in Osun state as he was then a financial soul of the party in the state.
Senator Ogunwale has impacted tremendously on lives of the people both within and outside his immediate environment. And, he is always ready to identify with the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
As it has been established, poor leadership is responsible for over seventy-five percent of the problem currently confronting our nation. It is very glaring that the social-economic and political atmosphere is not favourable to the masses of our people in Osun state and the country at large.
As we are now looking forward to seeing another Governorship election in Osun state in 2022 and another round of general elections in the country in 2023, the time has come for us to be more careful about the caliber of the people we put forward as leaders
People with Sterling qualities and wealth of political experience like senator Felix Kolawole Ogunwale to turn things around for us in this country.
Recently, no fewer than 15 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Iragbiji, the own town the grassroot political strategist, courtesy his efforts. The development which majority of political analysts described as a tenacious political sagacity of Senator Jumokol.
There has been some clamouring for senator Ogunwale to re contest for the Osun Central senatorial seat.
Given his antecedent and his contribution on the floor of the house, between 2003 and 2007, it will not be a bad idea if Ogunwale yield to the calls of his constituent.
After all, his contribution to his party in the recent time is enough testament that he is loved by his people and this should count for something.
