Independence: Shameful Talking About This Level Of Insecurity @ 59-Fadahunsi

The Senator representing Osun East, Prince Francis Fadahunsi has described the security status of the country as shameful, unacceptable, stressing that solving security challenges must be a major priority before Nigeria clocks 60.

Senator Fadahunsi in a statement signed and made available to pressmen in Osogbo, the state capital by his Special Adviser Media; Sam Segun-Progress, said level of insecurity in the country calls for concern.

Speaking against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary, the lawmaker said the challenge of insecurity in the country seems beyond the capacity of those saddled with the responsibility.

He then urged President Muhammadu Buhari to shame critics by reviewing the country’s security architecture and rejig its hierarchy by allowing the tired hands to go home and allow new and fresh hands to drive a new security vision that will guarantee a safer Nigeria.

“How can you expect an officer who has stayed 40 years in service to be hungry for success? And how do you expect an officer whose promotion and aspiration is not certain because his boss has stayed put and juniors are exiting service?

“Is it not ridiculous to continue to do the same thing and expect a different result?Is there a reason not to try other hands or are we saying if these current military chiefs leaves,our military will collapse?It is so sad that the military are in the news like every other goverment agency,struggling for airtime and space”

Fadahunsi said there is no celebration in the air because “the people are not just hungry, but are also feeling unsafe.

“Its crystal clear that the crop of military leaders we have now are Salvation Army since seeking the help of God is what they are using to wage war against insurgents. It is better to let them go home and join clerics.

“We need to appeal to the prematurely retired officers, not to because of their unhappiness, heat up the polity and assist enemies within or outside.”

Fadahunsi, lent his support for the quick closure of border, but questioned ability of the rice growers meet the local needs of Nigerians.

There is a limit to the period we can close our border. The closure is affecting a lot of Nigerians working across borders that are contributing legally to the economy.”

He challenged the federal government on job creation and the fight against unemployment, warning that, if goverment refuses to show more commitment to providing gainful jobs, the issue of security will not only remain as it is, but degenerate.

The former customs boss however congratulated Nigerians for being alive to see another Independence Anniversary, and expressed hope that before the 60th anniversary, there would be better reasons for celebration.
