A Member representing Obokun State Constituency in Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Adewumi Adeyemi has appealed the ruling of the election Tribunal which declared his election as inconclusive.

Justice Eyo Ita-led panel had on September 2, after cancelling four units in Esa Oke and Ilashe Ijesa, ordered a rerun, saying the poll had become inconclusive, after votes from the cancelled units were deducted.

But Adeyemi in a statement signed by him and obtained by our correspondent on Friday said he had filed an appeal, challenging the verdict of the tribunal.

The lawmaker stated that though he was quite confident that should the rerun be held, he would still emerge victorious, maintained that his constituents insisted that he needed to explore the legal options to protect till the end.

The statement reads, ” Few weeks ago the tribunal ruled that some wards in my constituency would have a rerun election. Obviously, this did not sit well with me and the good people of Obokun State Constituency who gave me this victory in a free and fair election.

“I’ve since met with my legal teams and we have concluded the process for the appeal.

“We will explore all legal avenues to protect the mandate given to me by the people of Obokun as I continue to deliver on my promise of participatory representation in Osun State House of Assembly.

“The good people of Obokun State Constituency assured me of victory even if the elections was conducted one thousand times.

For this, I’m grateful always. They were unequivocal in voicing their support for my cause; which has become our course. They assured me of their relentless support in protecting their mandate.”
