MP Pleads For Prayers As Eid-El-Kabir Is Celebrated
By Olu Babalola, Ibadan
A Law Maker in the National Assembly, Honourable Albert Adeogun, has pleaded with all Islamic adherents to use this occasion of Eidil Kabir to pray for the peaceful conduct of the governorship election slated to hold in September 22 and the general elections of next year as they pray unto God for their desires.
Adeogun who represents Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives said that Islam being a religion of peace has been firmly committed to peace and stability in the country adding that the country is currently at cross roads where prayers are the only antidotes required for emancipation.
His position was contained in a press statement sent from Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
Hon. Adeogun who is a Deputy Governorship aspirant in Osun state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)urged the residents of the state to prayerfully seek the face of God to direct them to exercise their voting rights and resist the temptation of voting on religious and sectional sentiments.
He noted that most of our political leaders during the 2015 elections played on religious and tribal sentiments to acquire power through vicious propaganda adding “the results are manifest in the country where today ,the masses practically saw that the change they promised were mere shadows.
“It is not our intention to use Ramadan message for partisan purpose other than supplication and intercession but almighty God teaches us how to bring our challenges to him as there is no greater power than that of Allah, the most benevolent and the most merciful ,he said.
The Lawmaker charged the believers to pray unto God to touch the hearts of the Federal Government to allow a peaceful as well as free and fair election in Osun state in September 22 governorship election and the 2019 general elections adding “the people in that state have suffered enough of deceit”
Adeogun alleged that the Federal Government has mapped out strategies to remain in power at all costs pointing out that the plot of the Executive included among others a plot to set the Lawmakers against one another and find excuses to remain in power in order to fuel insecurity and hardship on the masses.
“Both Islamic and Christian adherents as well as traditional believers should cry unto God to restore sanity into our polity.Situations whereby workers are being hurriedly pay their accumulated salaries because of coming elections and Fulani killers temporarily suspend their killings are deceitful and Nigerian workers and citizens should no longer fall into the trap from where they are yet to be rescued”the Lawmaker added.
