Man, 27 Arraigned Over Alleged Fraud In Osun

The police in osun state, on Monday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Diran Olawale, before an Osogbo magistrate’s court over alleged fraud and stealing of N700,000.
The police prosecutor, Sargent Adewuyi Kehinde informed the court that the accused committed the offense sometime in April 2011, at number 3, Olobi street, Owo-Ope in Osogbo, Osun state capital.
According to the prosecutor, the accused stole the sum of N700, 000,00, property of one Abiola Adelakun.
He further explained that, there was an agreement between the accused person and his victim that he would assist him to purchased one acre of land at ota- Efun area of Oshogbo, knowing fully well to be false.
He explained that the accused person conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by converting the money to his own use.
He submitted that the accused person committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Sections 419, 390 (9), 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
But accused person pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bothering on conspiracy, felony and stealing slammed against him.
Defense Counsel, Mr Alayo Abayomi applied for the bail of the accused person in the most libral term
Abayomi who assured the court that the accused would not jump bail if granted said reliable sureties were ready to stand for the accused.
Ruling on the matter, Magistrate O.A. Oloyade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 naira with two sureties in like sum.
Oloyade ordered, the sureties must be residents within the court jurisdiction and provide evidence of three year tax payments.
She also stated that the sureties must provide three passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means, and the address of sureties must be verified by the police prosecutor.
The case was then adjourned till May 3, 2018 for hearing.
