Photographer Celebrates Birthday With Free Medical Outreach In Osogbo

The Chief Executive Officer of Bright Imagery Photography, Mr Ebenezer Oyelade, has celebrated his birthday in an unusual way by organising a free medical outreach for residents of Osogbo, Osun State, as part of efforts to give back to the society.

The outreach, held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, provided more than 100 beneficiaries with access to basic health screenings, including blood pressure checks, weight and height measurements for Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, fasting blood sugar tests, as well as Hepatitis B and C screenings.

Speaking at the programme, Oyelade said the initiative was his way of appreciating his family, friends, clients and members of the community who had supported him over the years.

He explained that although he might not have the financial capacity to give material gifts to everyone, he believed providing people with access to basic health checks was a meaningful way to mark his birthday.

According to him, “The reason I chose this programme is that I know health is wealth. Even if you have all the money in the world, including billions, if your health is not good, you have nothing. If you have money but lack good health, you cannot work. Over 100 people benefited from the programme.”

The celebrant said the outreach was also designed to encourage people to know their health status, stressing that early detection of health conditions could help individuals seek appropriate medical attention before complications arise.

The lead physician at the outreach and Consultant Family Physician, Dr Abiodun Abioye Olagunju, described the initiative as a commendable gesture, saying it provided beneficiaries with opportunities to assess their health, receive counselling and obtain professional advice.

Olagunju disclosed that some participants were advised to visit hospitals for further medical evaluation based on the outcomes of their assessments. He urged members of the public to make regular health checks a priority, particularly monitoring their blood pressure and blood sugar levels, while also encouraging healthy eating, adequate water intake and regular exercise.

One of the celebrant’s pastors, Pastor Ayinde Stephen Adepoju, commended Oyelade for using his birthday to impact lives, noting that some people could be living with health conditions without knowing it. “I am impressed by the turnout and by Ebenezer’s decision to use his birthday to touch lives. This is a programme that can make a real difference because it gives people an opportunity to know their health status,” he said.

A beneficiary, Mrs Olagunju Adefunke, described the outreach as “life-impacting,” saying it enabled participants to access basic medical checks and professional advice without the financial burden associated with hospital visits. She commended the organisers for the friendly treatment given to beneficiaries and urged Nigerians to prioritise regular medical check-ups.

Another beneficiary, Babajide Funmilola, appreciated Oyelade for creating an opportunity for residents to access free medical screening, while Taiwo Adepeju Oladipupo described the gesture as a “special programme,” saying she was impressed that the celebrant chose to mark his birthday by improving the wellbeing of others.

Also speaking, Mr Muyiwa Olojede described the initiative as “service to humanity,” urging members of the public to pay greater attention to their health and undergo regular medical examinations. Dr Omokoye Japhet similarly called for increased access to basic healthcare, urging government, non-governmental organisations and individuals to support more free medical outreaches and affordable health-screening programmes.
