Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan Dies After Cancer Battle
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer.
The report of his death emerged on Sunday, with multiple sources said to have confirmed the development.
Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON), was among those who announced the actor’s reported death on social media.
Oloketuyi wrote in a brief post that Hassan had died after losing his battle for life, adding that further details would be provided.
The development came shortly after members of the Yoruba film industry gathered in Lagos for a special prayer session for the veteran actor, who had been battling stage-four cancer.
Hassan’s daughters had earlier appealed publicly for urgent medical assistance after disclosing that their father’s condition had deteriorated. They said the family was seeking access to specialists and facilities capable of providing further treatment.
The family had also previously appealed for medical assistance rather than financial donations while exploring available treatment options for the actor.
Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, was a prominent figure in Yoruba-language cinema whose acting career spanned several decades.
He was known for his roles in numerous Nigerian films and his influence on the Yoruba movie industry.
