APC Igbimo-Agba Engages In Mobilisation Ahead Of August 15 Governorship Election

By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo

The apex body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State otherwise known as “Igbimo-Agba”, has called for intensified grassroots mobilisation in support of the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election in the state.

CityMirrorNews reports that the Elders Caucus of APC as part their efforts to mobilise votes for Oyebamiji across the nooks and crannies of the state, on Thursday, embarked on a statewide mobilisation for the party’s success during the poll.

Igbimo Agba Osun intensified grassroots mobilisation across Obokun and Ilesa Local Government Areas as part of efforts to secure victory for the party’s governorship candidate.

The party elders during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in the Obokun and Ijesha axis, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances at the poll, calling on members to sustain mobilisation at the grassroots.

Speaking at the meeting, the Osun West Senatorial District APC Chairman and the secretary of Igbimo Agba, Hon. Omolaoye Oluremi Akintola, said the party was fully prepared for the election, noting that its strength lies in its well-coordinated grassroots structure across polling units in the state.

“By the grace of God, we are prepared for the governorship election, and we are hopeful that the masses are in support of our great party, the APC. On August 15, 2026, our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO), will win hands down,” Akintola boasted.

“We are laying a solid foundation for victory by mobilising canvassers from every polling unit because that is where the real strength of the party lies. Our leaders are on the ground, mobilising our electorate, and the entire structure is organically organised,” he noted.

Akintola described AMBO as a humble and experienced administrator who understands the needs and aspirations of the people, expressing confidence that his familiarity with governance would work in the party’s favour.

“AMBO is a humble person and a very experienced leader. He has been in the system for years and understands how the people feel. We believe he possesses the experience and capacity required to move Osun State forward.”

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Engr. Maruf Ogundipe Kayode, described the meeting as a timely gathering aimed at fine-tuning the party’s electoral strategy ahead of the governorship poll.

He stressed that elections are won through careful planning and effective mobilisation, adding that the APC leadership was united and convinced that its strategy would deliver a convincing victory.

“This meeting is timely because it is about the trajectory of winning this election. Elections involve strategies, which is why we have come together with the leadership to fashion out the way forward”

“We are convinced that with our plans and our level of preparedness, we are going to win the election on August 15 by a very wide margin,” He noted.

Kayode further urged party members to continue mobilising residents across the local government areas while calling for an inclusive administration under AMBO if elected governor.

“Our basic demand of the incoming Governor, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, is an all-inclusive government, as our party leaders have consistently advocated. Strong collaboration between the state and local governments will ensure robust success.

“Party members should continue to mobilise and sensitise our people because democracy will be strengthened under the incoming governor. People’s interests will be adequately protected, while self-development, capacity building and capital development projects will reach every part of our local governments,” Kayode mentioned.

Adding his voice, APC leader in Ijesaland, Sir Kunle Odeyemi, underscored the importance of experienced grassroots leadership, saying local party structures remain the backbone of every successful political campaign.

According to him, the experience of long-serving party leaders dating back to the progressive political movement of the Chief Obafemi Awolowo era remains a major advantage for the APC.

“Local leadership in any political party is very important because these are the people who move each local government. They understand the terrain and know how to effectively mobilise the electorate” Odeyemi noted.

“These leaders have been in the system for many years, right from the Awolowo era. They know those who are committed, serious and can be entrusted with responsibilities, and that experience will continue to strengthen our party,” he mentioned.
