Osun: Sagbakonija Dumps NNPP, Announces Next Political Move

Hon. Taiwo Hassan Olanrewaju, popularly known as Sagbakonija, has resigned his membership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the chairman of the party in Ward 03, Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area, Olanrewaju formally notified the party of his decision to quit after years of active involvement.

The politician, who also served as the NNPP Osun State Auditor, conveyed a separate letter to the party’s national leadership through appropriate channels, confirming his resignation from his official position and membership of the party.

Olanrewaju expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership at both national and state levels for the opportunities given to him during his time in the NNPP.

He noted that the party provided him with a platform to contest in the 2023 House of Assembly election, serve as a national delegate at the party’s convention, and contribute as a former state youth leader as well as chairman of the Osun State Local Government Election Committee.

The former auditor added that he had carefully reflected on his political journey before arriving at the decision to resign from the party.

He stated that he would now focus on his next political move under what he described as the Sagbakonija Movement.

“I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.

“I wish to thank the leadership of the party at the national and state levels for the confidence reposed in me. After careful consideration and reflection, I will be proceeding, progressing and be focused on my next political move as Sagbakonija Movement,” he added.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo, Olanrewaju promised to disclose his next political journey soon after consultations with members of his political tendency.
