Baba Is A Patriot And Great Politician, YPF Eulogizes Baba Akande At 85
By Grace Isaac, Osogbo
Members of a sociocultural group, Yoruba Progressives Forum YPF have joined other well-wishers to celebrate the former Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Olalekan Lateef Lekan, and made available to journalists in Osogbo, on Thursday described the celebrant as a patriot and great politician.
According to the group the landmark achievements of Chief Akande in the development of Osun and Nigeria at large call for celebration saying Akande’s political sagacity was in indication that he had actually leant some many things from late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
“Baba is our one reliable fathers. We are always proud of him. Akande is a reliable and dependable, he has proved to us that he truly learnt so many things such as forthrightness, integrity, reliability and spartan life from his leader, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
“Baba turning 85 is a landmark achievement that calls for celebration. We must also be thankful to God for his life and for giving the nation an eminent leader like him. The roles he played in the sustainability of democracy will continue to linger in the memory of many Nigerians
Part of the laudable achievements while baba was the Governor of Osun was the state-of-the-art government Secretariat, Abere. Abere Government Secretariat is a community on its own.
“He remains one of our respected elder statesmen in Nigeria who continues to offer rare insights and counsel on how best to organise our country for effective governance.
“As an astute politician, Chief Akande has been part of every political epoch in our country since the Second Republic. He was one of the eminent Nigerians that drafted the 1979 constitution, which the amended 1999 constitution, currently in use, largely mirrors.
“We pray God to continue to protect baba for us so we can continue to tap from his wealth of experience.”
