Release All Govt Transformers, TRACTORS In Your Custody To Ease Hardship For Our People, Olajengbesi Tells Wole Oke
Human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi has appealed to the lawmaker representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Oke, to release all Federal Government intervention items in his custody to constituents.
Olajengbesi made the appeal on Sunday, November 1, in a post on his personal Facebook page.
The Abuja-based lawyer, who recently donated a 300kVA transformer to the Ilo-Ijesa community in Oriade Local Government Area after 14 years of unstable electricity, said the pledge was made during the governorship campaign for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
According to him, residents had lamented years of blackout and unfulfilled promises from political leaders.
“I was moved by the genuine concern and need of our people. They lamented years of electricity blackout due to lack of transformers, with promises made to them remaining unfulfilled. The Federal Government made provisions for these projects,” he said.
He disclosed that the intervention was made possible through personal effort and support from friends.
“Thank God, with the support of friends, I was able to get a 300kVA transformer and donate it to our people in Ilo-Ijesa. I promised that when I have the necessary capacity as their representative, I will ensure that such problems will no longer be a challenge,” Olajengbesi stated.
The lawyer decried the alleged diversion of government interventions meant to alleviate hardship in rural communities.
“Often, the Federal Government provides this support through various interventions, but politicians take the items and sell or divert them,” he alleged.
Olajengbesi therefore challenged the incumbent lawmaker to account for constituency items in his possession.
“I also challenge our current representative to immediately release all Government support transformers and tractors in his possession to the people of Oriade/Obokun to make life easier for our people,” he declared.
