Police Parade Fake Naval Officer, Ritualists, Others In Osun

The Nigeria Police, Osun State Command on Tuesday paraded a fake Navy captain and eight other suspects for alleged armed robbery and possession of human parts.

The suspect paraded alongside the fake Navy captain are; Captain, Akinsiku Sunkami, 27, Aniedu Essiet, 23, Nwabueze Ijeoma Dalinton, 37, Raheem Quadric, 20, and Gabril Jacob, 22.

Sunkanmi who claimed to be a personnel of Nigeria Merchant Navy but could not give a satisfactory account of himself was arrested on January 19, 2020 in Osogbo by officers of the Navy Base Kwara State.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo while briefing newsmen said “the suspect was handed over to the Police at Dugbe Police Station Osogbo. Detectives swung into action an stubbed the illegal Merchant camp at Orolu, Ifon Osun where exhibits were recovered.

The exhibits recovered from the merchant camp are; seven mock rifles, cutlasses, one camouflage pullover, three Naval face cap, one naval beret, two pair of naval blue ring uniform, a pair of camouflage uniform, 34 recruitment files, one Nigeria merchant Navy flag, One Nigeria flag, a pair of Naval rank and badges, one Naval belt and one digger.”

Also paraded are; Emmanuel Okafor, 31 from Umuleri in Anambra State and Chinedu Francis, 25, from Ohafia in Abia State on February 2, 2020 at 4:00am, following a tip-off from intelligence led policing, a combined team of operation “PUFF ADDER” attached to Osu Divisional Police Headquarters and Vigilante group ambushed and engaged some suspected armed robbers in a firefight at Oluwadatiti forest along Osu-llesa express road as they emerged to challenge the suspects, they opened fire on the Police.

“Consequently, during the cause of exchange of gun fire, one of the suspected robbers simply identified by his cohorts as Raymond ‘m’ from Okene in Kogi State received bullet wounds and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor. Meanwhhile, the suspects after a hot chase surrendered themselves for arrest due to the ruthless effort of the operatives.

“The following exhibits were recovered from the suspected robbers include: Ten (10) Dummy guns wrapped in black cello-tape, one machete, one fabricated Iron nail, three Torchlights, three shells of expended cartridges and three mobile phones. Meanwhile, investigation and intensive manhunt is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing culprits and recover their arms.”

Also paraded for possession of human parts are; Adesina Adeniyimi, 42 and Oluwole Olapade, 58.

“Adeniyinmi was on January 28, 2020 through the persistent effort and vigilance of personnel of Mobile Force, attached to lwo Area Command while on routine stop and search on visibility policing to prevent and detect crime(s) along lwo/lbadan Raod, lwo, Osun State, intercepted a commercial bus and a thorough search conducted on their persons led to the recovery of two severed human skulls and a decomposing liver.

The suspect confessed that the recovered human skulls and liver were removed from Muslim cemetery and mortuary where he worked as an attendant.

“Diligent investigation conducted by Police detectives led to the apprehension ofhis accomplice Oluwole Olapade of Yemetu area, Ibadan, Oyo State who has promised to pay the sum of N20,000 (Twenty thousand naira only) for a skull for charms,

“The Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, who gave a marching order for the recovering of the body for identification said the suspects will be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation.

Kokumo assured the good citizens of the State and travellers to go about their lawful businesses without fear of insecurity as Osun will not be a safe haven for the activity of any unscrupulous elements.
