Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba Emerges NRM House of Representatives Candidate, Vows to Help Rescue Nigeria
By Our Reporter
The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has successfully concluded its primary elections for Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly positions in Kogi State and other states across the country, as well as governorship primaries in states not scheduled for off-cycle elections, in preparation for the 2027 General Elections.
At the House of Representatives primary election held in Kabba on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba emerged as the National Rescue Movement’s candidate for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency seat.
Rev. Olorunmagba, who currently serves as the National Financial Secretary of the NRM, secured the party’s ticket following a successful primary election conducted at the party’s temporary secretariat in Kabba, Kogi State. The exercise was closely monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and was widely commended by party members and observers as peaceful, transparent, free, fair, and credible.
In his acceptance speech, the cleric and former NRM candidate for the constituency in the 2023 General Election expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence in him and reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality representation and advancing the welfare of the people.
“This victory is not about Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba alone; it belongs to every Nigerian yearning for a better future, every unemployed youth seeking opportunities, every farmer striving for support, every market woman working tirelessly to sustain her family, and every citizen who believes our nation deserves responsible leadership and effective legislation,” he said.
He emphasized the urgent need to address the country’s security challenges, particularly the growing incidents of kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting communities across Nigeria, including Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
According to him, the National Rescue Movement remains firmly committed to its “Rescue Nigeria” vision, which is anchored on the principles of justice, accountability, transparency, equity, good governance, and selfless service.
“For too long, our people have endured poor governance, insecurity, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, and ineffective representation. I am entering this race not for personal gain but to serve as a genuine voice for the people and to help restore hope to our constituency and the nation,” he stated.
Rev. Olorunmagba pledged that, if elected to the National Assembly, he would focus on youth empowerment, agricultural development, quality education, accessible healthcare, rural infrastructure, improved electricity supply, enhanced security, and policies that promote transparency and accountability in governance.
“As a minister of the Gospel and a servant-leader, I believe politics should be driven by service, integrity, justice, and the fear of God,” he added.
Speaking after the exercise, the Kogi State Chairman of the National Rescue Movement, Comrade Godwin Wambebe, commended party members and electoral officials for ensuring a peaceful and transparent process.
He described the primary election as a significant step toward producing credible candidates capable of representing the party effectively in the 2027 General Elections.
“The exercise was peaceful, free, fair, and credible. It complied with the requirements and standards for party primaries as stipulated by the electoral authorities,” Wambebe said.
The state chairman expressed appreciation to the party’s National Management Committee, National Executive Committee, the National Chairman, Prince Dr. Chinedu Obi, party executives, supporters, and INEC officials for their contributions to the success of the exercise.
He further disclosed that the party had intensified efforts to take its “Rescue Nigeria” message to communities across Kogi State as part of its preparations for the next electoral cycle.
Political analysts believe that the emergence of Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba could boost the visibility and grassroots appeal of the National Rescue Movement in Kogi West, particularly among young voters and citizens seeking alternatives to the established political parties.
The successful conduct of the primaries under INEC supervision is also being viewed as evidence of the party’s growing organizational capacity and readiness for the 2027 General Elections.
