Osun ALGON Welcomes New Police Commissioner, Pledges Stronger Security Collaboration
The Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has welcomed the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim D. Zungura, to the state, pledging continued collaboration with the police and other security agencies to strengthen security across the state.
The association, in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Wednesday by its State Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, described the appointment of the new police commissioner as an opportunity to further deepen the existing partnership between local government authorities and security agencies.
Abiodun, who is also the Executive Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government, Oke-Ila Orangun, commended officers and men of the Osun State Police Command for what he described as their discipline, dedication, commitment, effectiveness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He said the association was impressed by the verifiable track record of the new Commissioner of Police and expressed confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership for the command.
“We are ever ready to partner with the police and all other security operatives to scale up the security architecture of our various councils and the state at large,” Abiodun said.
The ALGON chairman stressed that security remained a fundamental responsibility of any purposeful, serious, responsible and responsive government, noting that local government authorities would continue to support efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability.
He said no effort would be spared in supporting measures to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of residents across the state.
According to him, effective collaboration between local governments, the police and other security agencies is essential to addressing emerging security challenges and creating a safe environment for residents and businesses to thrive.
Abiodun assured the new police commissioner of the readiness of Osun ALGON to work closely with his administration, particularly in strengthening security coordination at the grassroots.
The association therefore congratulated CP Zungura on his deployment to Osun State and wished him a fruitful, successful and rewarding tenure in office.
ALGON also expressed optimism that his leadership would further enhance the security architecture of the state as he settles down to duty and “hits the ground running.”
