Tinubu Embarks On 27th Foreign Trip In 16 Months

Nigerians have slammed President Bola Tinubu for coming out 24 hours after hundreds were brutally massacred in Benue to condemn the attack.

They also questioned the President’s decision to wish Nigerians a Happy Father’s Day instead of talking about the deadly incident.

Recall that rampaging herdsmen killed no fewer than 200 men, women, children and internally displaced persons in Yeluwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, on Friday night.

However, more than 24 hours after the incident, President Tinubu took to his X account to condemn the attack.

He said he was just briefed about the incident, adding that he has directed security agencies to act decisive.

He wrote, “I have been briefed on the senseless bloodletting in Benue State. Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them.

“Political and community leaders in Benue State must act responsibly and avoid inflammatory utterances that could further increase tensions and killings. This is the time for Governor Alia to act as a statesman and immediately lead the process of dialogue and reconciliation that will bring peace to Benue.

“Our people must live in peace, and it is possible when leaders across the divides work together in harmony and differences are identified and addressed with fairness, openness and justice.”

Reacting to the President’s tweet, many of them questioned his silence while citizens are being killed under his watch.

An X user, @UchePOkoye, wrote, “Just look at yourself. It took Pope, Peter Obi, and Protest from Benue people for you to release a tweet. You are a failure.”

Social media influencer, Daniel Regha , @DanielRegha while reacting to the President tweet, said, “Enough is enough!” but the govt still reportedly pardons terrorists, rehabilitates them and sets them free back into society.

“Enough is enough!” whereas the govt does nothing to fix the problem. “Enough is enough!” yet this isn’t the first time that the masses are being massacred in the northern region and across the nation.

“Enough is enough!” indeed. This is NOT a serious administration, and has never shown any signs of bettering the nation.”

Activist Rinu Oduala, @SavvyRinu, wrote, “Your social media handler should do better. Absolutely terrible! A failure home and abroad.”

“In Benue, parents are burying their children, with over 200 lives lost , yet no state of emergency has been declared. No significant action has been taken from you, just empty words. If this devastated region doesn’t warrant a national emergency, what does? Benue needs more than sympathy, they needs protection, and all you can do is just to sit there and type “Enough is Enough”?. This country just keeps getting worst,” another X user, @heisSly said.
