WIP Announces 2025 Peace Conference, Set To Launch Book On National Security

The World Institute for Peace (WIP) has announced the 2025 edition of its annual international conference and award ceremony, themed “Building a Secured Future.” The event is scheduled to hold on June 20, 2025, at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja, starting at 3:00 PM.

At the heart of the conference is the recognition of General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, who will be honoured with the institute’s highest award—“The Bearer of Security Torch (TBST)”—for his role in strengthening national security.

A new book titled “Fundamentals of Peace Education and Sustainable Solutions to Insecurity in Nigeria: General CG Musa’s Perspectives” will also be unveiled in his honour.

WIP confirmed that two of Nigeria’s most respected retired military figures—Ambassador Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), CFR, former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Ambassador to Benin Republic, and Lt. Gen. Lamidi O. Adeosun (Rtd), CFR, former Chief of Policy and Plans—will serve as Special Guests of Honour.

Distinguished academics scheduled to speak include Professor Mahfouz Adedimeji, Vice Chancellor of the African School of Economics, Abuja, and Professor Joy Chinwe Eyisi, the first female Deputy Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.

The event will also witness the Knight of World Peace (KWP) award presentation to notable personalities including:

Oba Ademola Ajibola Julius – Olusin of Ijara-Isin

Pastor Hillary Chukwuma

In a show of international solidarity, ambassadors of the World Institute for Peace from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Greece, and Belgium will participate and deliver goodwill messages.

According to the organizers, the conference aims to foster dialogue among military, traditional, academic, and diplomatic stakeholders, with a focus on promoting peace education and sustainable responses to Nigeria’s security challenges.
