Tinubu Deserves Eight Years – Kaduna Commissioner

Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman-Lagos, has appealed to northerners agitating for the presidency in 2027 to allow President Bola Tinubu to complete his eight years in office.

Mamman-Lagos, who spoke with journalists on Friday in Kaduna, urged northern politicians to shelve their presidential ambitions and support Tinubu, stressing that the North would have its opportunity to produce a president when the time comes.

He said, “Northerners should allow Tinubu to complete his tenure. It is the turn of the South-West. When the time comes, the North will also have its opportunity to produce whoever it wants.

“We should not allow political differences to create unnecessary tension in the country ahead of 2027.”

The commissioner stated that Tinubu’s emergence as President was part of a political understanding among leaders from different parts of the country.

According to him, former President Muhammadu Buhari and other northern political leaders played significant roles in the political arrangement that eventually produced Tinubu as President.

The commissioner also dismissed the growing activities of opposition politicians, particularly those operating under the African Democratic Congress, saying the party lacked the grassroots structure to defeat the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State.

He said opposition politicians should not mistake social media popularity, rallies and large crowds for actual electoral strength.

“Election is not won on TikTok, Instagram or other social media platforms. There are millions of voters, especially women in rural communities, who are not on these platforms,” he said.

Mamman-Lagos described women as a critical voting bloc, saying their numerical strength and ability to mobilise at the grassroots could determine the outcome of elections.

He challenged opposition candidates to present their records in public office and explain what they had achieved for their communities.

The commissioner also expressed confidence that Governor Uba Sani would win a second term in the 2027 governorship election, citing the administration’s projects and programmes across the state.
