The factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Dr. Bayo Faforiji, has attributed the current imbroglio rocking the party as a resort of the party’s leadership failure.

He said the current crisis in the PDP would have been curtailed if the party leaders had chosen the path to fairness, justice and equity in managing the affairs of the party over the years.

Faforijin alleged that the inability of the party to conduct an acceptable congress led to the crisis currently enmeshing the state chapter of the party.

The PDP factional chairman in the state stated this while featuring on a radio programme monitored by our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday.

He maintained that the deprivation of some members by the state and national leadership of the party further worsened the situation, alleging that the state congress committee leadership also failed in its constitutional duty.

Faforijin said his rejection of the manipulated process made him and his followers to reject the Soji Adagunodo’s state executive committee of the PDP.

According to him “I paid 3.7 million for the nomination form, I was not given any form, It was a manipulated process, I was short-changed, that was why we rejected their plans.

“There were some people from Boluwaduro Local Government who also rejected it, there is a court judgment restraining them. The Mediation Committee headed by a retired judge came and worsened the matter; they did not want some people there that was why the process was touched along the line”, he added.

Recounting his political ordeals, the former commissioner for works under the former Governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s administration accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola led government in the state of denying him access to become the monarch of his town.

The Ijesa born politician said the present administration in the state halted his chances to ascend the throne of his ancestors and to be crowned.

“It is unfortunate that Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s government in the state rejected my name after all the kingmakers had chosen me and forwarded the name to the state for endorsement.

“Though, I met former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, I met the then Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Adelabu they all intervened but all to no avail because all they were telling me was to join APC then which I openly refused”, Faforijin explained.

The ex-commissioner for works in Osun who expressed his readiness to stay within the PDP however did not rule out the possibility of joining another party or the formation of a new party, saying such action depends on the decision of other stakeholders who are on the same page with him.
