Coalition Backs Tinubu, Adopts Barau For Senate Presidency
A northern youth group has tipped President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a successful eight years in the Villa.
The group, Coalition of North Eastern Youth Support Groups for APC, said at a briefing in Yola that it had chosen to adopt a ‘competent hand’, Senator Barau Jibrin, for Senate President to give Tinubu the necessary backing.
Convener of the coalition, Barr Yakubu Bello said: “Asiwaju built Lagos to its present standard due to consistency and continuity of governance. He laid the foundation in four years of his first term and consolidated on his achievements in his second term.
“It’s the same wish we have for our dear Nation Nigeria, that Asiwaju will have unbroken eight years leadership of the country to put the nation on the right pedestal and transform it like he did Lagos.”
Yakubu Bello contended Tinubu requires to maintain his support base for a strong footing to rebuild Nigeria and that Senator Barau Jibrin and his political root, Kano, eminently represent this base.
According to him, the North West ensured the emergence of Tinubu from the primary election where five governors championed the aspiration and where voters later ensured that Tinubu won the general election.
“The people of Kano in particular gave the President-elect the highest votes in the entire northern Nigeria,” Yakubu Bello said, concluding that Kano needs to be appreciated by having one of its own, Barau Jibrin, elected the next Senate president.
“The entire Hausa-Fulani population is left with nothing to show for their unflinching support,” he said, adding that Barau Jibrin who is the Kano North Senator-elect for a consecutive third term is eminently qualified to be president of the 10th Senate.
